Please be aware of 2 significant upgrades to Adastra forthcoming which will require you to take some action to ensure you can use these features. They are of the upmost importance to CHoC’s function.

Child Protection Information System (CPIS)

We require all control room and reception staff to have smartcards as CPIS notes are updated using the spine. In not using a smartcard, there is a significant risk that crucial information relating to children who are looked after or on Child Protection Plans are missed.

If you work in either control room or reception and you don’t have a smartcard then please let us know. We are aware of a number of you who are waiting on a smartcard and we are working with the relevant service to get these for you however, we are aware there are some staff who don’t have cards and who haven’t contacted us. Please get in contact with Richard McGregor on Richard.mcgregor@choc.nhs.uk or Will Balderstone on will.balderstone@choc.nhs.uk if you are one of these staff.

Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)

EPS is used solely by clinicians who prescribe. In order to utilise EPS, clinicians need to use smartcards which have CHoC added to their card. There are a large number of clinicians who have smartcards that work for us and don’t have CHoC on their cards. This means you will be unable to use EPS and therefore, prescribe electronically. If you are a clinician that does not have CHoC on your smart card, or you don’t have a smart card at all please get in contact with Richard McGregor on Richard.mcgregor@choc.nhs.uk or Will Balderstone on will.balderstone@choc.nhs.uk and provide us with your smartcard number. If you don’t have a smartcard then please let us know that as well.
