Working as a General Practitioner (GP) with CHoC:

Our General Practitioners form an integral part of our clinical team. As a GP you will provide:
> Clinical advice by telephone
> Face to face consultations
> History taking, Examination, Diagnosis, Investigation
> Treatment and/or Referral where appropriate

Dedicated Telephone Triage shifts can be booked up upon completion of a Telephone Triage training course when you have worked with us for 6 months.

Sessional Roles
As a Sessional GP you can choose to either work as a Self Employed Locum or through a Personal Services Company. After an initial induction you will be able choose which shifts you would like to work via our online system or by speaking to one of our friendly Rota Team.

Salaried Roles
Whether you are looking for a full time work or a smaller salaried allocation, our Rota Team will work closely with you to design your ideal working pattern. This will be based on how many hours a week you wish to work and the locations you would like to work from in order to create a shift allocation that fits our clinical needs and your work life balance.

Our GPs are well supported by our Clinical Coordinators (Senior GPs) on shift, and by our Chief Executive, Susan Blakemore, and Medical Director, Dr Neil Margerison who line manage the salaried team. As well as working in an executive role at Head Office, Neil also works clinically throughout the county across our range of services.

Working as a Nurse with CHoC:
Our nursing team is line managed by Davina Collins, Head of Nursing. Davina is a very
experienced ANP, and Senior Manager. Davina also works clinical shifts, meaning that she is on hand for any queries and to provide support.

Our nursing roles:
> Practice Nurse
> Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP)
> Health Care Assistant
> Telephone Triage Nurse

As a Practice Nurse or ANP, you can choose to work in our extended access service providing
routine 15 minute appointments or to work in the out of hours service delivering unscheduled care. Due to the requirements of the role, a minimum of 5 years post registration experience is
necessary including primary care experience in order to work for CHoC. You can expect a nursing role with us to include the following duties:
> Assessing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems
> Initiating treatment
> Conducting investigations
> Giving advice and managing problems using professional autonomous decision making processes
> Liaising with other healthcare professionals and service providers to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Working as a Pharmacist with CHoC:
Our Pharmacist team work across the extended access and out of hours services providing telephone consultations to patients and carers/relatives from a number of our clinical sites. The Pharmacist team is line managed by Davina Collins, Head of Nursing, and Omar Ahmad, Senior Pharmacist. Omar has worked across a range of leadership and pharmacy roles and works regular clinical shifts within the CHoC out of hours service. Due to the requirements of the role, you must be a non-medical prescriber with a minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience.

 

You can expect a pharmacist role with us to include the following duties:
> Delivering safe and effective assessment, diagnosis and treatment,
> Acute prescribing and continuation of repeat medication
> Referral of patients with primary care needs out of hours
